Editorial Policy
How we research, write, fact-check, and update content on The Decor Note.
1. Editorial independence
The Decor Note’s editorial decisions are made independently of advertising or affiliate relationships. We may earn commissions on some product links, but we never feature products solely because they pay us. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
2. Author standards
Every article published is written or reviewed by a member of our decor styling team. We don’t publish AI-generated articles without human editing, fact-checking, and personal experience signals. Our team byline appears on collaborative articles; individual bylines appear when one team member led the entire research.
3. Research methodology
For each article, we follow this process:
- Search intent analysis — what is the reader actually looking for?
- Product testing or styling work — we use the products or style the rooms ourselves before recommending.
- Price verification — we check prices on the day of publication, with regular updates afterward.
- Source citation — for statistics, design history, and style claims, we link to primary sources (manufacturers, design publications, or retailer specs).
- Cross-team review — at least one team member who didn’t write the article reviews it before publishing.
4. Fact-checking
We verify all measurable claims (prices, dimensions, weights, materials, ratings) against primary retailer sources at publication. We update articles when we discover errors or when product details change significantly.
5. Updates and corrections
If we find an error, we correct it and add a dated update note at the top of the article. We don’t silently rewrite published content. Major updates (price changes >20%, product discontinuations, new editions) are clearly flagged.
6. Sponsored content
Sponsored articles, gifted product reviews, and affiliate-promoted content are clearly labeled at the top of the article. We never accept payment to misrepresent a product’s quality or our actual experience with it.
7. Reader corrections
If you spot an error in our content, please contact us. We respond to all corrections requests within 5 business days.
We exist to give readers practical, tested, honestly-priced home decor advice. Anything that compromises that goal compromises why we exist.
